VidX Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-08-05
1. Information we process
(1) Video files
- The videos you select in VidX are used only for local compression and audio extraction.
- Video data is stored locally on your device (app sandbox, the output folder you choose, or your system photo library) and is not uploaded to our own servers.
(2) Device permissions
- Photos/Photo Library: used to read the videos you select from Photos and, when you explicitly request, to save processed videos back to your library. If you enable the "Overwrite original video when saving" option on iOS, when you save results back to Photos, VidX will create a new processed video locally and attempt to delete the corresponding original video to save space. This behavior only applies to the items you selected in VidX and you can turn this option off at any time in settings.
- Files access (macOS / iOS "Files"): used only to read the video files you pick and to save processed videos into the folders you select.
(3) Basic device information and necessary network requests
- When a free user needs to load a Google AdMob interstitial ad, or when the app needs to synchronize membership or purchase status, the app may make necessary network requests. Related services may process basic device information, request logs, approximate location, ad request, impression, and interaction data, diagnostic data, and anti-fraud data.
- These processes do not upload the contents of the videos you select to us for ad serving.
We do not access files or photos that are unrelated to your use of VidX.
2. Advertising and third-party services
- Free users may see a Google AdMob interstitial before starting an eligible video compression or video-to-audio task. Lifetime members do not see ads.
- The iOS version currently integrates Google AdMob only.
- The advertising service provider may collect or process data required for ad delivery, attribution, frequency control, measurement, diagnostics, and compliance in accordance with its own privacy policy, such as device identifiers, IP address, approximate location, and ad impression and click data.
- We do not sell the content of selected videos to advertisers or upload it to an advertising platform for ad targeting.
2.1 macOS platform note
- The macOS version does not currently display ads and does not integrate the Google AdMob ad presentation flow used by the iOS version.
- As a result, the macOS version does not currently trigger the ad requests or ad presentation flows used by the iOS version.
- If the macOS version later adds ads, online features, or other capabilities that change how privacy-related data is handled, we will update this privacy policy accordingly.
3. Data storage and retention
- Processed videos and intermediate temporary files are stored locally on your device. You can delete them at any time, or remove them by uninstalling the app.
- We do not maintain any remote server-side data that is linked to you as an individual user.
4. Children’s privacy
VidX is intended for a general audience and is not designed specifically for children under 13 years of age. If you are a minor, please use this app under the guidance and supervision of a parent or guardian.
5. Your choices and control
Because we do not store your data on our own servers, you can manage your information by:
- Deleting videos you no longer need from the photo library or output folders;
- Revoking Photos/Files permissions in your device settings;
- Uninstalling the app to remove all data stored in the app sandbox;
- Turning off the "Overwrite original video when saving" option on iOS so that VidX only adds processed videos to your photo library without deleting the originals.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If there are material changes, we will highlight them in the app update notes and encourage you to review the latest version.
7. Contact
